The Montreal Aperitivo Club is dedicated to revitalizing Montreal’s Italian community by reintroducing the cherished Italian tradition of aperitivo.
Our mission is to create an open, monthly gathering that invites Italians of all generations—and newcomers alike—to reconnect, bridge communities, and form lasting bonds in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
The word "aperitivo" comes from the Latin aperire, meaning "to open," and through this initiative, we hope to open pathways not only for appetites but for friendships, dialogues, and connections.
For previous generations of Italian immigrants, forming community was more straightforward; it happened organically in Italian churches, neighborhood associations, and gatherings in areas densely populated by Italian families.
Today, Montreal’s Italians are dispersed throughout the city, the traditional church and community centers are no longer central in the same way. We believe that modern tools and the timeless appeal of shared food and drink can help bridge these gaps and re-establish a sense of community.
We aim to
Reconnect Generations:
Create a space where older and younger Italians can share stories, culture, and perspectives, learning from one another.
Build New Bridges:
Introduce new Italian immigrants to the Montreal Italian community, helping them find their footing and connect with others.
Support Community Organizations:
Partner with local Italian associations to amplify their efforts, creating a cohesive network that supports initiatives within and beyond our gatherings.
Embrace Modern Outreach:
Utilize social media and digital platforms to spread the word, making it easier for younger generations to discover and join the community.
We invite everyone to join us in our mission to bring people together, celebrate Italian culture, and foster meaningful connections across generations.
